Eyes Of Compassion

Eyes Of Compassion
Read
2 Kings 5:1-14

We have only to look at this story to see the importance of a witness. The Young maid (unnamed) but so important to God and his purpose, was kidnapped by Syrian forces and brought back to be a slave. Without a doubt she had witnessed the loss of one or both of her parents. Now she found herself a slave working in the household of "Naaman ..captain of the host of the King of Syria..a leper...". I'm sure she had every reason (humanly speaking) to hate her captives.
Yet, notice her witness, "...Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy."
How could she be concerned for one who had caused so much pain? She had eyes of compassion which when coupled with a heart that had been given to God caused her to see with her heart and not with her circumstances.
Compassion caused her to care, her faith caused her to speak! The Lord Jesus Christ would say, "Love your enemies..." Luke 6:27, she believed and practiced his words.
She did something else that should get our attention... she was faithful to her master as a slave ... how do you know... I know it's true .... because she was believed! Her witness won the attention of her household, the King of Syria, the King of Israel, the Prophet of God, and the Lord our God! She was believed, so Naaman went and found a healing and a new life that all the money in the world cannot buy. All because of the eyes of compassion of a little girl who saw with her heart and spoke of her faith in a Living God who could and did make a difference! What do you see when look upon the masses of broken lives around you?

Day by Day and Night by Night

Day by Day and Night by Night

(God is at work)

Psalm 19:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Psalm 19:2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

David understood something about the work of God that so many never understand. What is it? It is simply that the Work of God goes on 'continually', never stopping, never resting, always going on … as we would "24 - 7"! The Lord is at work! His Heavens declare His Glory … day after day, night after night! There is never a time when God is not at work! For church planters this truth is a great encouragement as we knock on doors … pray .. talk to people … and preach…. God is at work! For the lonely times when you think nothing is happening, God is at work! The ministry is just the same … it is the continuation of the activities that God has commanded us to continue in that will bring the results.
Paul would tell young Timothy ...
2Ti 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
Each action was to be repeated over and over again .. Day after day … night after night … again and again. That's how God does it … and that's how we must do it because it works!
Psalm 19:3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Did you hear that?
Such declarations are heard and understood in "every language"….! Just a week ago I spoke to a young man who has been coming to our new church… I asked him about the condition of his soul… he was lost. Before I left his home Justin had trusted Christ as his Saviour! I had watched for him … I had endured affliction as I sought for his soul… and then doing the work of an evangelist, I saw him get saved...which made full proof of my ministry here. It took a while … but following the time honored actions always brings the desired result!
Psalm 126:6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
It works … because God is at work!

Majesty Baptist Church Has Started
Image
What a joy it is to be starting a New Testament Baptist Church in Vancouver, Washington!!!  After years of praying and planning, thousands of miles of travel, meetings with churches all across this great nation, preaching and encouraging thousands of God’s people to give to missions thus becoming partners with us in this wonderful task, we have arrived in Vancouver and started Majesty Baptist Church. The Lord has given us 3 couples who are helping us as the Lord builds His Church.  It is amazing to see how the Lord is working to put everything together … someone receives a John and Romans and comes out to the service … the Lord opens the heart of someone else and we get a free spot in the paper … we needed $2,000,000.00 in liability coverage to get into a school .. it seemed impossible .. several insurance companies said it would be too costly. Then I called a couple fellow pastors … they had the answer and within hours we were insured and on our way!  We have seen as many as 19 attend our services thus far as we follow our Lord’s command to “go” and to “teach” “all” “nations” . We look forward to seeing many saved and “added” to His Church!  Church Planting is a work of the Heart for truly you cannot be out visiting and not love people and have compassion on them as you see how lost people are and how much they need the Lord.  Church Planting is a work of the Word for truly we are driven to the Scriptures that we might discover His way of starting and maintaining a people for Him. Church Planting is a work of the Spirit for truly the power of the Holy Ghost is needed to guide us into all Truth.  What a wonderful blessing it is to be in the Lord’s work of Church Planting!!  Please pray as we continue to reach out to the people of  Vancouver, Washington with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.    Bro. Virl & Sandy

People are important!
Image

People are the reason for the Church… we must never lose sight of this. The Lord came to seek and to save that which was lost … that means people are important to God and they must be to us. You say "of course .. that's a given!" But sometimes we let people get on our nerves … do we not? Always take time for people..God took time for you.

Making people important and the priority of our ministry takes something from us ..Our time!
Time to listen, to care, and to share their lives. Just as a farmer has to love the land .. taking time to understand it ..working with it .. plowing, planting, watering and reaping… so it is with the Church Planter. Take some time with someone today ..you never know just how they may grow.
